Partnerships

Along with our own research projects, USDTL welcomes opportunities to partner with other organizations and research programs to assist with testing needs. We currently foster two types of research partnerships.
USDTL can assist with sample testing: the client sends samples, we screen them and they receive the results. University research groups and federal agencies have established contracts with USDTL to provide them with testing solutions for their research projects. USDTL has successfully worked with research groups from:
- Harvard School of Public Health
- National Institute of Child Health and Human Development
- Brown University
- Marshall University
- Dartmouth Medical School
- State University of New York at Buffalo
- University of Illinois at Chicago
- University of Miami
- University of Nebraska-Lincoln
- University of Wisconsin-Madison
For research testing assistance, please contact President and Scientific Director Douglas Lewis at 847-493-8863 or Vice President Laboratory Operations Joseph Jones at 847-493-8861.
For a more involved partnership, USDTL, in carrying out its research, aligns with outside partners to facilitate its studies. Our newborn blood spot work is being done jointly with an investigator from the Hospital Pereira Rossell in Montevideo, Uruguay. For the studies of ethyl glucuronide (EtG) in hair as a long-term alcohol biomarker, we have formed a consortium with the Center for Addiction and Behavioral Health Research at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and partnered with HealthCare Connection of Tampa. Other organizations that USDTL has united with in research studies include:
- Intermountain Healthcare in Utah
- University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey
- Rogers Hospital in Wisconsin
For research partnership inquiries, please contact Laboratory Director Charles Plate at (847) 493-8871.
